2010 Valley Crest Half Marathon Training Schedule

March 29, 2010

Easy Training Schedule For Valley Crest Half Marathon

Trail Run Events invites you to train for the friendliest little half marathon in Los Angeles! The Valley Crest Half Marathon is a challenging and scenic mountain run on historic Mulholland Drive fire road. It is a great introduction into trail running. If you are a 10K runner, you can easily prepare now for the VCHM on June 13, by following the training schedule shown below. The schedule
may be followed by anyone but is especially designed for the novice runner who wants to build up for the half marathon. It incorporates safe long-distance mileage with easy recovery weeks built in. You may continue with your usual mid week shorter runs and schedule the long run on Saturday or Sunday. Runners who are used to low mileage weeks are encouraged to take off the day before and
after the long run. For those who have never run the VCHM, I recommend that you train on the race course or similar terrain; one with a few big hills and don’t hesitate to take walking breaks on the up hills, or walk them entirely. If you run or jog only the down hills and flats, you will do well at this event.

Weekend of April 3-4 = 8 mile run (hard week)

Weekend of April 10-11 = 6 mile run (easy week)

Weekend of April 17-18 = 9 mile run (hard week)
