TRAIL RUN EVENTS NEWS -- Valley Crest Half Early Entry is Extended to May 10

VALLEY CREST HALF MARATHON NEWS:

Early registration for the 9th annual Valley Crest Half Marathon has been extended to May 10 at 11:59 PM.  You still have a week left to take advantage of the lower entry fee to run the Friendliest Half Marathon in Los Angeles.  Details follow:

*    Date: Sunday, June 13, 2010
*    Time: 8:00AM
*    Location:  Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park (south-most end of Reseda Blvd.)
*    Entry Fees:
*    $60 until May 10 at 11:59PM
*    $65 thereafter until June 11 at 11:59PM
*    $70 on race day; space permitting (cash only please)
*    Snail mail registration must be postmarked on/before May 10.
*    The VCHM is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) State Championship Race.
*    All participants receive a finisher medal, race shirt, goodie bag, Sponsor raffle ticket, free parking, and light refreshments at the finish line.
*    Prize purse valued at $500 to overall male/female; Awards three-deep in five-year age divisions.
*    Sponsor donated gifts to all age division winners.

BULLDOG 50K/25K NEWS:

The 19th running of the Bulldog 50K Ultra Run will be on Saturday, August 21, 2010.  We will also offer the ever popular 25K Trail Run for those who are not fans of the ultra distance.  We look forward to keeping up with the tradition of the Bulldog Runs by offering you an excellent venue with fantastic volunteer support!  The Bulldog races will feature:

*    Miles of fun running in beautiful Malibu Creek State Park and National Park lands.
*    Fully stocked aid stations every 3-5.5 miles for both races.
*    Bulldog 50K is a RRCA Regional Championship Race; RRCA awards will go to first place male/female in the Open, Master and Grand-Master divisions.
*    All participants receive a finisher medal, race shirt, goodie bag, Sponsor raffle ticket, and light lunch after the race.
*    Awards three-deep in ten-year age divisions for both races.
*    Sponsor donated gifts to all age division winners.

FOOLS DAY 12/24 HOUR RUNS NEWS:

We are working with the State Park to offer a 12/24 hour venue called Fools Day Runs on April 2/3, 2011.  Please continue to check the website for updated details. 

ULTRALADIES NEWS:

The UltraLadies group training runs started on April 10 with 13 new ULs and several ULs-Men!  The ULs will run the Malibu Creek Challenge on May 8 to take advantage of the opportunity to train on the Bulldog race course. 

The next ULs group run will be on Saturday, May 22 for 19-miles.  We will start at 7:00AM from the top of Reseda.  The course will be as follows:

*    Reseda to Trippett Ranch via Musch Trail (mile 5.5/water/toilets)
*    Trippett toward Parker Mesa Overlook for 4.0 miles to turn-around at mile 9.5
*    Return to Trippett Ranch (mile 13.5/water/toilets)
*    Return to Reseda via Musch Trail (mile 19.0)
*    Total running time will be 4h30m -- all runners will turn around at mile 9.5 or 2h10m, whichever comes first.

Please join us for the next ULs group run.  Dont worry about your pace; we welcome all runners!

Our runners appreciate your help at the races.  Heres just one example of a wonderful comment from one of our runners:  "This was my first time running VCHM...I just want to thank the volunteers at the water stations. Ive never experienced such GREAT welcome. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart; without them I would have not completed this tetras course!   What really helped me was at the last water station. I will never forget this one volunteer; she came up to me, saw how exhausted I must have looked, offered to sponge me with water, gave me snacks and handed me my cold Gatorade, she said " you look great; you could do this"! This helped me complete the race...I just want to say THANK YOU!"

Saturday, May 8, 2010 AT 7:30AM

The race takes place at Malibu Creek State Park, just south of Mulholland on Las Virgenes Road.  This is a great opportunity to run on the Bulldog race course.  Some of the ULs will be there and we hope to see many of you!

All participants get a great race t-shirt, cool finisher medal, hot breakfast with all the fixins, coffee, entry into the raffle of swag, and the satisfaction of completing one of the best races around!

Please note that the course closes at 11:30am, so you must finish before then; thats 4-hours... no problem!
