VALLEY CREST HALF MARATHON – JUNE 13, 2010

The Valley Crest Half-Marathon is a hilly mountain half-marathon on historic Mulholland fire road featuring beautiful spring foliage, glimpses of the blue Pacific Ocean and magnificent vistas of the San Fernando Valley.  The race is run in early June, and typically has cool, overcast weather. The course is entirely on graded fire roads in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area, with aid stations approximately every 3 miles.


The Valley Crest Half Marathon (VCHM) is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) State Championship race that will feature:

 

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the open division (under 40)

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the master division (40-50)

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the grand master division (50+)

·         Prize purse valued at $500 (cash & merchandise) to first place male/female overall

·         First, Second, and Third place awards for males/females in five year age divisions

·         The top three males/females in each age division will win great gifts donated by Moeben, Injinji and Phidippides Encino.

·         The free Runner’s Raffle will feature some awesome gifts donated by our Sponsors including Foot Pursuit, Hammer Nutrition, Road ID,   Buff, Fuel Belt, Race Ready, SuperFeet, CW-X and many more.

·         Every finisher will receive a coveted VCHM Finisher Medal

·         All runners receive a shirt, goodie bag, aid on the course and refreshments after the race.

VALLEY CREST HALF MARATHON TRAINING RUN – SATURDAY, MAY 29

 
There is still one group TRAINING RUN scheduled on the race course!  You may run part or all of  the race course!

*    Saturday, May 29 at 7:30AM

*    Location:  Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park (Valley Crest Half Marathon site).

~    Exit the 101 Fwy at Reseda Blvd in Reseda.
~   Turn South and go all the way up the hill.
~   Continue through the gate into Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park.

*    Parking: Meet below the white line on Reseda Blvd. (free parking area).  If you would like to use the porta potty before parking, drive up to the top of Reseda, then come back to park below the white line.

*    Support:  These runs are unsupported.  No water is available for these runs.  Please carry enough fluids for the entire run.

*    NOTE THE STOP SIGN AT PARK EXIT:  There is a PHOTO ENFORCED STOP SIGN at the park exit.  Please stop and count to 3 before proceeding ahead.

 

BULLDOG 50K/25K RUNS – AUGUST 21, 2010

The 19th annual Bulldog Runs will be hosted in beautiful Malibu Creek State Park on Saturday, August 21.  The Bulldog Runs are challenging and scenic trail runs in a state park made famous as a filming setting for the popular MASH television program.  Don’t be fooled by other races; this is the “original Bulldog Run”! 

 

The Bulldog 50K is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Regional Championship Race that will feature:

 

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the open division (under 40)

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the master division (40-50)

·         RRCA plaques to first place male/female in the grand master division (50+)

·         RRCA Sports Authority Gift Certificates to the top males/females in the open, master, and grand master divisions 

 

Both Races will also feature:

 

·         First, Second, and Third place awards for males/females in five year age divisions

·         The top three males/females in each age division will win great gifts donated by Moeben, Injinji and Phidippides Encino.

ULTRALADIES TRAINING FOR THE BULLDOG RUNS:

Everyone is invited to join us in training for the Bulldog 50K or 25K Runs.  The next training run will be for a 21-miler on Saturday, June 5.  All of the training runs are held in the Santa Monica Mountains and provide one or two water/toilet stops midway.  All of the runs are “out-and-back” so runners desiring a shorter distance may turn back early.

 

BULLDOG SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST IS UNDERWAY

Every year, we select an original new design for the Bulldog race shirt.  If you are a runner with some artistic talent or even a runner who doodles, please email or fax your submission.  You just might be lucky enough to see your design on the back of the 2010 Bulldog shirt.  Details follow:

 

Submission Deadline:

  • June 30

 

T-Shirt Design Winner:

Winner will receive a free entry into the race of their choice for the year their artwork is used and will receive five free shirts displaying their design.

 

Artwork Requirements:

Artwork must be:

  • original artwork
  • non-copyrighted
  • accompanied by your name, address, telephone, and email address

Artwork submitted becomes the sole property of the Bulldog races. Artwork may subject to alteration and may be saved for consideration for a year other than the year it was submitted.

 

Submission Guidelines:

  • Preferred format for artwork submissions an Adobe PDF file.
  • All fonts should be converted to outlines before submission.
  • If your original artwork contains bitmapped graphics, they should be included at a minimum of 150 dpi.
  • Hand drawn artwork may be faxed to 818-591-1871.
