HIGH DESERT 50K TRAINING (AKA RIDGECREST 50K).

Note: The High Desert races are held on rolling hills in Ridgecrest, CA. The up hills and down hills are very moderate and runnable compared to Bulldog. The race is run entirely on jeep roads; there is no technical trail. Our training runs will be mostly on fire roads that that will best prepare you for this race.

LOCATION: Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park

DIRECTIONS:
~Exit the 101 at Reseda Blvd in Tarzana.
~Turn South and go all the way up the hill (approx. 4-miles). ~Continue through the gate to Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park.
~Park for free below the white line.
~REMEMBER TO MAKE A FULL STOP AT THE STOP SIGN WHEN EXITING THE PARK.

TOILETS: Located at the top of Reseda at the cul-d-sac. Okay to drive up to use the toilets and return to park below the white line.

TIME: 7:00 AM -- Running time; Please arrive prepared to run; bottles full, shoes tied, etc. We will start without you!

DISTANCE: 18.8 miles.

ROUND TRIP FROM RESEDA TO PARKER MESA OVERLOOK (VIA MUSCH): 18.8 MILES

1-From cars, go STRAIGHT to cul-d-sac -- mile 0.2
2-RIGHT turn on the Secret Trail (just after the cul-d-sac) and continue to Mulholland fire road -- mile 0.6
3-RIGHT turn on Mulholland fire road and continue to Fire Gate #30 -- mile 0.7
4-LEFT turn at Fire Gate #30 and continue to Hub Junction -- mile 2.7
5-RIGHT turn on Eagle Springs fire road and continue to Eagle Junction -- mile 4.0
6-STRAIGHT (cross over East Topanga fire road) and take Musch Trail to Trippett Ranch  -- mile 6.1

TOILETS/WATER AT TRIPPET

7-Leave Trippet Ranch Visitor Center going toward Parker Mesa Overlook
8-LEFT turn at first junction -- mile 6.3
9- RIGHT turn at East Topanga fire road (mile 6.4) and continue approx. 2.5 miles to Parker Mesa Overlook Junction -- mile 9.0
10-RIGHT turn on Parker Mesa Overlook fire road and continue to Parker Mesa Overlook at the dead end -- mile 9.5

RETURN

11-Take Parker Mesa Overlook fire road to East Topanga fire road -- mile 10.0
12-LEFT turn on East Topanga fire road and continue to Trippet Junction -- mile 12.5
13-LEFT turn at Trippet Junction and go 0.1 miles to intersection -- mile 12.6
14-RIGHT turn at Trippet second junction and go 0.2 miles to Trippet Ranch Visitor Center  -- mile 12.8

TOILETS/WATER AT TRIPPET

15-Leave Trippet Ranch Visitor Center via Musch Trail to Eagle Junction -- mile 14.9
16- STRAIGHT (cross over East Topanga fire road) and take Eagle Springs fire road to Hub Junction -- mile 16.2
17- LEFT turn onto Fire Road #30 (look for signs to Mulholland) continue to Mulholland fire road -- mile 18.2
18-RIGHT turn onto Mulholland fire road and go 0.1 miles to Secret Trail -- mile 18.3
19-LEFT turn on Secret Trail and continue to Reseda cul-d-sac -- mile 18.6
20-Return to cars -- mile 18.8

TOILETS/WATER: At Trippet (mile 6.1/12.8)

BOTTLES/HYDRATION PACKS: Carry enough fluid to allow you to consume +/- 20oz/hour.

PLEASE NOTE THE STOP SIGN AT PARK EXIT: There is a PHOTO ENFORCED STOP SIGN at the park exit. Please stop and count to 3 before proceeding ahead.
