Brenda Mackintosh: Thanks for hosting the VCHM . It was a great day...I got the chance to run a fun and challenging course, my husband had the opportunity to test out some new camera equipment, and my mother discovered a new venue for walking. I dont know if Ill be able to make it to the Bulldog this year, but hope to at some point and time. I was saddened to hear about the "imposter", probably because its hard to imagine such audacity from one of our own. But like you said "shit happens" and I guess you just learn and move on. Overall, I thought the race was great! It was well organized with an informative and updated web site answering most FAQs and showing lots of pictures. I liked the course, especially the much-welcomed downhill on the last stretch. Thanks again to you and all the volunteers. Happy running! Brenda Mackintosh
Gracie: Hi Nancy, an Larry and all the Volunteers , This was my first time running VCHM...I just want to thank the volunteers at the water stations, Ive never experienced such GREAT welcome, I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart, without them I would have not completed this tetras course!....what really helped me was at the last water station, I will never forget this one volunteer , she came up to me, saw how exhausted I must have looked, an ,offered to sponge me with water, gave me snacks an handed me my cold Gatorade,( she said " you look great you could do this"! this helped me complete the race...I just want to say THANK YOU!.....God willing I will see you nice people again next year!..keep up the awesome work... P.s...Larry, my fiancé jerry says hello, you probably meet hundreds of people that day, but he says youre a cool dude!...he mentioned to you that I was over weight after I gave birth to my twin boys, but with hard work I got my weight down!...he says see you next year!...he would also like to volunteer for next year.... Thanks a million! Gracie
Gerry Smedinghoff: Nancy, Thanks for another great race. The outstanding volunteer support is much appreciated. Im looking forward to the Bulldog Race in August. Gerry Smedinghoff Phoenix, Arizona
Brady Barbero: I wanted to thank you for hosting a great race. It was my first trail race. It was a challenging yet great time. I came all the way from PA and had to leave the race immediately after it ended. I was shocked to see on the results that I finished second in my age class and am greatly upset that I wasnt able to make it for the awards. My mother and my sister both live in LA and I was wondering if they could possibly pick up the award somewhere. If not, I understand but I would really love to have my first medal in a half marathon. Thanks again, Brady Barbero
Lyle Dodd: Howdy, I just wanted to say that I had a great time running on Sunday. I definitely want to come back and try to crack the 2 hour barrier on a tough but beautiful course. The last turn around was so well stocked with goodies that I wanted to stay there and party awhile....I still forged ahead but boy was it tempting. Thanks also forgetting the results to me so quickly. I had such a good run that I hope to make it back next year. Lyle Dodd Finisher #114 in 2008 But I had such a nice relaxing run that I feel like I won!
Elinor Nissley: Thank you for the thorough race wrap-up. I had been meaning to email and say thanks for the fun race before I got your email and send a particular thanks for the incredibly helpful and cheerful volunteer staff. If only that June gloom had stuck around for another hour or two it would have been a perfect morning, alas. But the volunteers were more than willing to fill my drink bottle (I went through three bottles!) at the watering stations, so I made it unscathed. A super well run race... humbling, but fun. THANK YOU Elinor Nissley
Keith Gayhart: Nancy, Thanks to you and your crew for another great race. Just one complaint. My time keeps getting slower! 1:50, 1:54, 2:01. Either the course is getting longer or the hills are getting higher--those are the only possible explanations. Best regards, Keith Gayhart
April House: Hi there, Nancy, We enjoyed your race so much! We were beyond impressed with the nice volunteers and the support on the course. We honestly thought we were the last racers on the course, and you generously gave me a $39.95 value gift certificate for insoles from Superfeet. After receiving this email, I can see that we werent the last ones across the finish line. I would like to return the certificate to you to give to the actual last finisher. If you give me an address, I will drop it in the mail today. Thanks again so much for being there for the "new guys" because we had a wonderful experience - and we plan to set goals and train to become better racers at Valley Crest Half Marathon Trail Run in the future! AND thank you for the delicious watermelon! :O) April House
Cecil Baumgartner: The Race Crew did a GREAT job. Plenty of aid stations and the course was well marked. See ya next year. Cecil Baumgartner
