Jim Krueger: First off, a big round of applause for Nancy, Larry, and all of your wonderful volunteers who do so much to make this race the success that it is. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I agree, the friendliest race in LA. I ran 17 minutes faster this year from last year. I will be back again. Love the small field and positive atmosphere that surrounds this event. I will see you in August for my 1st attempt at the Bulldog 50k, and I am really looking forward to it.
Gina: Please give a big thank you to the wonderful trail support staff...their encouragement and kind words were truly appreciated. See you next year.
Teresa Merritt: You and Larry are one of the top race directors! Thanks for your superb organizational skills!
Alexandria Wiercigroch: Dear Race Director, Kudos to the volunteers at Valley Crest. This was my moms first time and my second time. Again, you have the greatest volunteers and greeters from the gate entrance to the parking director. As a back of the packer, it was fantastic to have volunteers cheer on the fast walkers/slow runners. Especially the Valley Crest Singles Association! Everyone told my mom she looked great and to keep going (age 65). Special thanks to the New Basin Blues. At a very tired and hot point, I grabbed a cup of water at their aid station. Some great looking guy asked if I wanted ice. He took care of me and filled my camel back and put it on my back and wished me luck. Of all the half marathons Ive done, Ill remember the special treatment and try to pass it on.
Rita Stumps: Dear organizers and volunteers of the Valley Crest Half Marathon, Thank you for a fantastic race! A few years ago, in 2004, I was looking for an appropriate way to celebrate my 20-year running anniversary. My loves, running-wise, have always been half marathons and trails. A friend introduced me to the VCHM, and the rest is history. I ran the VCHM that year, and twice later, including this year. Other years, I would have been there too, but events like graduations and weddings kept getting in the way. I love this race. The course is beautiful. Additionally, many little touches make this a true runners race--receiving the race bib ahead of time, the perfectly-spaced water stations, the goodies after the race, and what I think is one of the nicest touches--a medal for each runner who finishes. All of this could not be done without you folks, the ever-cheerful organizers and volunteers extraordinaires. Thank you SO much!! I hope to be back next year. In deepest appreciation,
Judy Maguire: Hi Nancy, This was my first time running this race - and I loved it! Its totally my kind of race - hilly, dirt roads, with gorgeous scenery. (And I appreciated that you warned us clearly about that stop sign) Thanks a lot for continuing to put on this race - Ill be back!
Brad Champagne: I was a first time participant in the Valley Crest Half Marathon this year, and the lucky winner of a raffle for a free race entry. I thought the race was well organized - including parking, porta-potties, water stops and the start/finish. In addition, the course was interesting, challenging and fun, and filled with fast runners! All in all, it was very satisfying to complete the race. Thanks for the free entry this year - Ill be back next year!
Andrew Adelman: The Valley Crest Half Marathon was my first marathon, and I couldnt have started my running "career" with a more friendly, helpful race. Registration was easy, and the volunteers were welcoming and very pleasant the day of. Although I was nervous for my first half marathon, the ease of the staff and volunteers made it an enjoyable and really fulfilling half run. Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible!
Victor M. Weisberg: Nancy...the 2010 VCHM was yet another great event put on by you and your terrific team...volunteers, as always, were their usual fantastic selves...hot day made for even more of a challenge, but enjoyable race just the same...plenty to eat at the post race festivities, even for finishers like me...looking forward to the Bulldog in August...photos are good---ordered one myself...best regards, Vic.
Sharlene Wills: As usual, a well-organized, friendly (as advertised) race! I so greatly appreciate people being at the finish line for the slowest of the slow (me). It really means a lot to still get the medal and a cold drink, even though, this year, for instance, there was almost a 12-minute gap between me and the runner before me. Thanks to Nancy and everyone for all the hard work and support. I hope to be back next year, and I keep plugging this race for anyone wanting to try a trail run for the first time.
Beatrice: What a beautiful race it was. It was my first and I had a really good time even though I didnt feel 100% ... I had to walk a lot, but all is good and I cant wait to do it again.
Jeffrey Kao: The volunteers were great! I really enjoyed the spirit of the runners, evidenced by the fact that most people stayed for the awards ceremony and cheered for each other. I enjoyed the late start time, in that I could get up later, but I regretted it when it got incredibly warm!
